Sober Housing

Where New Beginnings Start

This residence provides a structured, safe and sober living environment for male and female adults in early recovery.

In addition to regular attendance at twelve step meetings, residents are expected to be active participants in a continuing care plan that addresses the stage of recovery they are in.

The sober residence fills a special need for the Billings recovery community, while adding a component of care not previously offered by Rimrock.

Our structured sober living home provides safe and sober housing for the recovering person who is active in their personal recovery program. The self-help learning process that is occurring in 12-step groups and sober living homes effectively assists most persons in recovery.

Length of Stay

There is no maximum length of stay, however, the residence and program are designed to be transitional and to afford the resident sufficient time and resources with which to establish independent, healthy living arrangements. We ask for a three month minimum commitment from a resident to move into the residence.

Program Setting

This Cottenwood House residence is a four bedroom duplex serving male residents. Each resident has his own bedroom and shares a bathroom with one other resident. Common areas include a kitchen with dining, living room, laundry and utility area. Comfortable furniture, television and all of the amenities associated with home living are included. Meals are the responsibility of each resident with cooking appliances, utensils and dishwasher provided. Mutual responsibility for the care of the residence is expected and enforced.

The residence offers easy access to many resources in the Billings area. Located close to beautiful North Park and on a bus line, residents should have easy access to work and to all of the treatment and recovery resources of Rimrock Foundation, which is within walking distance. The Billings community has a myriad of twelve step meetings available seven days a week. With permission, residents may have a vehicle and place to park.

Green Leaf House is our newest addition, serving male residents.

Program Components

The sober residence is designed as a transitional housing program for adult males and females in early recovery who may have unstable living environments that may make "going home" unadvisable. Although the sober living residences are not a treatment program, residents will have a continuing care plan that may include aftercare, relapse prevention, or a step-down level of care such as intensive outpatient following inpatient care that they are actively engaged in.

Each resident signs an authorization with his/her treatment provider that permits our Project Coordinator to communicate with them regarding the resident's progress, needs, etc. Additionally, each resident is expected to attend regular twelve step meetings and to have a sponsor.
